The Draconians were created by Sarath-Narok and control of them was bestowed upon Cerea, a powerful mage who dedicated her life to the service of Sarath-Narok. She created these beings originally in an attempt to try her own hand at creating life (much like her sister Shenkarra had done in creating her race of Assiya-anon) but when Sarath-Narok was sealed away, the Draconians seemed to lose purpose and direction. Cerea stepped up as Sarath-Narok's right hand and gave them new purpose - to find the soul shards with which she could resurrect her sealed Goddess. But once that task was complete, the Draconians were sent across the realm to hunt down and kill every Assiyan they came across. By doing so, Cerea could eliminate the chances of Shenkarra's own resurrection.

Draconians aren't exactly dragons, but they're not really ... uhm, not dragons either. The youngest of the Draconians, called dragonets, are merely scaled humanoid bipeds. Some of them have wings, like the dragonet pictured above, and have a more bestial apperance to them. Some just have a thin layer of scales covering their bodies and have no wings and humanoid faces. Some have tails, some don't, while others have claws on their fingers and toes. A few of them have barbed horns, while some might possess more elongated muzzles and long, sharp fangs. All of them are vulnerable, however, because their scales are very light, almost like human flesh, and thus offer them no protection. Many female dragonets spend their early years in temples as priests, while males are typically training to learn to use their magic and strength for a more destructive purpose.

As they age, the scales grow and harden. By this time, many of them have grown wings, tails and talons, and have grown long, scaley spines on their shoulders, ankles, knees and forearms. Those who haven't probably devote their lives to the study of priestly magics and dwell on the surface in great temples of Sarath-Narok.

Many of these adult Draconians are treated as shock troops, legions of dragons who fly together and attack cities and entire worlds, decimating the population and the structures.

Several Draconians grow and live to old age, but only a small fraction of them manifest the ability to shift into their complete draconic form. They are the true leaders of the Draconian legions, taking their armies into battles with their adversairies as they rain fire down upon them.

The idea for the Draconians is my own and has been developing for the past seven years. I wanted to find a way to tie them to the evil of my world that would also allow them to have a hierarchy within their own corrupt society, so I came up with what you have just read. I find that giving a race of creatures descriptions as such seems to give them a greater depth of life than just doing a good drawing and writing a snippet of a story. I want them to seem like believable creatures of a fantasy realm, so they have a developmental process, tiers for their own ranks and weaknesses like real people do.

and now I am babbling.

You know what? I'm glad you like them. And I'm glad you like the picture ^___^

--Beware of the random licking and chewing of this strange girl towards deviations. Bishounens are never safe from her kleptomaniac tendencies and need to taste everything. :chew:

Absolutely stunning job! I love the posing and the subtle details really bring this creature to life. The anatomical structure is wonderful and the detail in her hair is just stunning. I love the detail that you added in the description of this picture, you really do a wonderful job with bringing your characters and races to life not only with words but gorgous illustrations as well. Your creations are very detailed and elaborate which always makes me curious and wanting more. You gave this particular Draconian a wonderful variety of textures that compliment each other beautiful from the soft smooth flesh to the glittering scales. I love her eyes and the expression on her face, there is an elegance and grace to her movements but a dark and sinister side as well, set within her eyes.
